Mombasa, Kenya—Over 4,000 local delegates and 400 international delegates are attending the 31st Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK) Convention, one of East Africa’s largest engineering conferences, at the PrideInn Paradise Beach Resort.

The convention will take place over four days, from October 29 to November 1, 2024, focusing on “Industrialization for Economic Transformation and Employment Creation.” It will unite industry leaders, policymakers, and engineering professionals globally.
“This convention represents a crucial platform for addressing Kenya’s industrial transformation and creating sustainable employment opportunities through engineering innovation,” said Eng. Margaret Ogai, IEK President, during the opening ceremony.

Women in Engineering Take Center Stage
The 7th Women Engineer Summit is a key event that highlights the growing role of women in Kenya’s industrial development. It focuses on challenges and opportunities in the engineering sector, especially in leadership roles for industrial transformation.
“We’re seeing a significant shift in the engineering landscape, with more women taking on leadership roles in industrial projects,” noted Dr Sarah Kimani, Chair of the Women Engineers Chapter. “This summit provides a crucial networking platform for emerging female engineers.”
