There is a serious push for governors to receive their shareable revenues from the National Government to jumpstart development, as a new poll by POLITRACK AFRICA shows most governors who did not perform well are hampered by development

The new poll that engaged 3211 respondents from across the country and rated 20 of the best-performing governors, and carried out between the 10th and 17th of November 2024, showed that there was little investment in development across the counties, and those that had invested in development would hurt other sectors, especially having a lean workforce.

According to the latest POLITRACK AFRICA poll, Kakamega’s Fernandez Baraza emerged best with a 76.5% rating, followed by Tharaka Nithi’s Muthomi Njuki who garnered 75.1%, Narok’s Patrick Ole Ntutu came third with an approval rating of 73.2%
The council of Governor’s new chairperson and Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi made it to the top 10, coming in 4th with an approval rating of 70.7% as Nandi’s Stephen Sang’, credited for sports development and agricultural value addition, closed the list of best 5 governors.
Homabay’s Gladys Wanga and Meru’s Kawira Mwangaza come in at number 6 and 7, who are first-time women governors, represent the rest, making it to the coveted list of top 10 governors.
The poll also noted there was a serious link between development and reelection, calling on other governors to invest more in the needs of the public as opposed to the introduction of projects that are self-initiated.
