The Ministry of Health has dispelled any fears of the spread and containment of the human metapneumovirus (HMPV)flu that has caught China and put it on the world risk map.
Speaking to the press this afternoon, public health and professional standards PS Mary Muthoni says the country is not at any risk at the moment, insisting, the virus is not new in the country.
HMPV, as it is known, has been spreading in China and parts of India, especially now that there is the winter season.
Consequently, PS Muthoni notes the country has been on high alert and is in a better place to tackle any emergency after the COVID-19 pandemic where the government invested heavily in combating the virus
However, the PS has called for the practice of basic health protocols such as washing hands and observing hygiene to keep diseases at bay
