Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau has mobilised an unprecedented intergovernmental effort to ensure a seamless transition ceremony. The committee she chairs comprises 15 subcommittees, each handling specific aspects of the historic event.
“We have implemented a comprehensive plan that covers every aspect of this ceremony,” Wanjau stated during a media briefing at KICC. “Our team has been working round the clock to ensure we deliver a world-class event.”
The committee has confirmed participation from several international dignitaries. “We expect 12 heads of state and 23 special envoys from various countries,” revealed Protocol Director George Macgoye. “This demonstrates the international community’s interest in Kenya’s democratic processes.”
KICC Chief Executive Officer David Matsanga detailed the venue preparations: “We have renovated key facilities and installed state-of-the-art equipment worth Ksh 150 million to accommodate this historic event.”
Media Council CEO David Omwoyo announced special arrangements for press coverage. “We have accredited over 300 local and international journalists. Dedicated media centres have been established with high-speed internet connectivity and live broadcasting capabilities.”
State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed provided additional details about the ceremony’s programme. “The event will begin promptly at 10:00 hours with the arrival of the Chief Justice, followed by the President at 10:15 hours. The swearing-in ceremony itself will commence at 10:30 hours.”1st November 2024, at 10:00.
