Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has expressed gratitude to President William Ruto and the Kenyan Government for initiating the KENHA road project that aims to link Trans-Nzoia, West Pokot, Turkana, and South Sudan.
Through his Chief Of Staff Dickson Wamocho, Governor Natembeya said that the project was essential for connectivity, regional integration, and economic growth.
Wamocho on behalf of the Governor highlighted that the project will help impact key areas hence creating Economic Opportunities to the people where the road will alleviate traffic congestion, facilitate trade, and provide direct employment for locals, with a priority on using local suppliers for building materials, will boost local businesses and help transfer skills to the youth, will enhance Safety and Inclusivity because the road design will include safety features like drainage, wider bridges, and cycling lanes, which will reduce accidents and make travel safer for all. Parking areas near marketplaces will improve accessibility for traders and shoppers, will enhance Sustainable efforts because it will emphasize environmental protection and ensure minimal disruptions by relocating utilities such as water pipes and power lines. Excavation sites will be restored to prevent environmental damage, with safety signage installed for public awareness among others.
The Chief of Staff further reiterated that Natembeya acknowledged the project’s long-term impact on resilience, connectivity, and opportunities, and was calling for continued collaboration to ensure a prosperous future for Trans-Nzoia, West Pokot, Turkana, and surrounding areas.
The chief of staff was accompanied by the chief officer of roads Wasike. Also present was a host of MCAs led by the chairman Roads Committee Hon Furaha Lusweti, Eric Wafula, and Hon Sarah Lubano
