Governors have called an emergency council meeting this Friday to discuss a raft of issues, including budget cuts totalling about Kes 25 billion.

The governors will demand answers from the treasury after they submit schedules that seriously cut donor-funded projects.
One of the demands from governors is that the Senate rejects the budget cuts as they demand an explanation from the treasury.
According to CoG chair and Wajir governor FCPA Ahmed Abdulahi, the only agreement between CoG and MPs was on excluding the Roads Maintenance Levy Fund (RMLF) as it is the subject of an ongoing court case.
Governors have argued that counties have as much right to access the RMLF considering they construct roads and it is the same kitty – fuel levy – that caters for the funds.
A showdown looming with the executive now stepping in to cool the tempers.
According to Governor Ahmed, at least MPs completely deleted any allocation to RMLF and in the third schedule, have reduced KISIP grant funds from kes. 10.4 billion to Kes. 1.7 billion
Consequently, FLLOCA grant funds have been reduced from kes. 4.9 billion to kes. 2.586 billion.
FSRP grant has been reduced from kes. 2.25 billion to Kes. 905 million
NAVCDP has also been reduced from kes. 5 billion to kes. 1.7 billion
WSDP grant has been reduced from kes. 5.7 billion to kes. 3.43 billion
KDSP II grant has been reduced from Kes. 1.76 billion to Kes. 1.48 billion
KUSP II reduced from kes. 7.6 billion to a mere kes. 1.668 billion
KABDP has also suffered with MPs reducing the donor allocation funds from Kes. 513 million to just Kes. 42 million
The Friday meeting is expected to take a common stand considering some of these matters have been discussed at the highest decision-making organ – the summit – yet MPs are exercising their muscles
