President William Ruto has revealed his struggles in communicating the government agenda effectively, welcoming newly sworn-in Deputy President Kithure Kindiki as a crucial addition to his administration’s communication strategy.

Speaking at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) during Kindiki’s swearing-in ceremony, President Ruto admitted to feeling overwhelmed by the task of articulating government policies alone.
“I was lonely in explaining government programmes and policies to Kenyans,” President Ruto confessed to the gathered audience. “Now, I have found someone who can help me communicate our agenda effectively.”
The Head of State expressed confidence in Kindiki’s capabilities, citing his extensive academic background and previous government experience. “Professor Kindiki brings intellectual rigour and clear communication skills to this office,” he stated.
President Ruto highlighted the importance of having a deputy who understands government operations thoroughly. “In Professor Kindiki, we have someone who has served in various capacities and comprehends the intricate workings of government machinery,” he remarked.
The President emphasised the significance of proper communication in governance, noting that many government initiatives have failed to gain public support due to poor explanations.
“Many good programmes have been misunderstood because we didn’t explain them well to Kenyans,” Ruto acknowledged. “With Professor Kindiki’s help, we will ensure our people understand what we are doing for them.”
Addressing concerns about the recent political transition, President Ruto assured Kenyans that the change in the deputy presidency would not disrupt government operations.
“This administration remains focused on delivering its promises to Kenyans,” he stated. “The appointment of Professor Kindiki strengthens our capability to serve the people better.”
The President outlined several areas where he expects Kindiki to make an immediate impact, including public communication, policy implementation, and coordination with various government departments.
