In a landmark development for the residents of Kiptangwanyi, Elementaita, in Nakuru County’s Gilgil Sub-County will for the first time start to enjoy close services, after Governor Susan Kihika officially opened a new administration block and revenue office aimed at decentralizing essential services for residents. The facility is designed to provide enhanced access to county services, promote efficiency, and reduce the community’s logistical burdens.
Governor Kihika highlighted the new facility’s significant impact on residents, noting that previously, people had to travel long distances to access essential county services, often incurring additional time and financial burdens. With the new administration block, residents can now conveniently access services locally, benefiting from timely assistance from on-site county administrators.
“Residents will no longer have to travel far to access basic services. This facility will allow us to address their concerns locally, providing convenience and saving time,” said Governor Kihika.
During her visit, Governor Kihika engaged with local stakeholders, including the leadership of the Kiptangwanyi Farmers Company, whose members have been advocating for land title deeds for nearly five decades. The Governor acknowledged the challenges they have faced and assured the community that a solution is within reach.
“We are committed to finally resolving the longstanding issue of title deeds with the help of the Lands Principal Secretary, Nixon Korir,” she said, adding that Lands CECM John Kihagi, in collaboration with the Kiptangwanyi Farmers Company chairman, would oversee the process. In a significant move, she announced the County’s decision to waive accumulated Settlement Fund Trustee interest and outstanding rates for the Kiambogo settlement schemes to further aid the community.
In a gesture that underscored her administration’s commitment to education, Governor Kihika disclosed plans to process title deeds for 12 schools in the area. This step, she noted, is part of her broader vision to address land issues comprehensively.
“Resolving these land issues is crucial for our community’s growth, and we are determined to see it through,” she remarked.
Healthcare was also a priority on the Governor’s agenda for Kiptangwanyi. She announced an ambitious plan to upgrade Kiptangwanyi Health Centre to a Level 4 Hospital, aiming to bolster healthcare services and improve accessibility for residents. The upgrade is expected to bring more advanced facilities to the region, ensuring that residents do not have to travel far for quality healthcare.
Further expanding on the development roadmap for Elementaita Ward, Governor Kihika outlined a range of ongoing projects aimed at enhancing the community’s living standards. These projects include the construction and equipping of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres, last-mile distribution of fertilizer, provision of avocado seedlings, and comprehensive road improvements through the Imarisha Barabara Program. She also emphasized the establishment of new dispensaries to further support local healthcare.
“We are committed to development that impacts every sector of our community. From education to agriculture, and health, we want to see meaningful progress in Elementaita Ward,” Governor Kihika stated.
The event was attended by a host of county officials, underscoring the administration’s commitment to the region. Among those present were Deputy Governor H.E. David Kones, County Secretary Samuel Mwaura, Chief of Staff Peter Ketienya, as well as County Executive Committee Members (CECs), Chief Officers (COs), Members of County Assembly (MCAs) from Elementaita and Murindat, and Naivasha Land Registrar Hilda Karani.
Governor Kihika’s visit was well-received by the residents, who expressed optimism about the positive changes promised. With plans for infrastructure improvements, educational investments, and healthcare upgrades, the administration’s efforts are expected to bring substantial, long-lasting benefits to the community.
