2 Nigerians arraigned in connection to JKUAT slain student; Hatchet, Butcher’s knife, sim cards, laptops and phones recovered

Two Nigerian-origin suspects were arraigned on Monday 22 January 2024 at Makadara Law Courts in connection to slain JKUAT student Rita Waeni

Two Nigerian Nationals William Ovie Opia and Johnbull Asbor arrested in Ndenderu; a few distances from where the chopped-off head of the slain JKUAT student Rita Waeni Muendo was found in a Kiambaa Dam, Kiambu County on Sunday were arraigned on Monday at Makadara Law Court with an expired passport and no travel documents respectively. 

The two on police radar were pinned by the Criminals Research and Intelligence Bureau CRIB; Believed to be in top gear to unravel the horrific murder incident.

The sleuths recovered from the suspect’s house a Buther’s knife, a hatchet, six mobile phones, three laptops, a Kenyan national Identity Card, and 10 different sim card lines among other documents.

Judge granted Constable Wangila orders to detain the suspects for 8 days believed to be flight risks until 31 January 2024 to obtain crucial details from the exhibits collected.

A phone believed to belong to the deceased was found next to the head covered in a sack wrapped in a purple blouse at the crime scene

The main suspect captured on CCTV collecting keys to the Airbnb is still at large as police enhance surveillance to trace his whereabouts.
