The Safaricom Sambaza Furaha caravan, a vibrant celebration marking 24 years of service, concluded its tour in the Rift Valley region, leaving a trail of joy and community spirit in its wake. This initiative, launched in partnership with Royal Media Services, aimed to engage local communities through entertainment, prizes, and charitable donations, culminating in a festive atmosphere as the holiday season approaches.
Starting on November 12, 2024, the caravan traversed several towns within the Rift Valley, including Eldoret, Nakuru, and Molo. Each stop was designed to connect with residents, offering them an opportunity to win prizes and enjoy various activities. The caravan’s final day on November 16 saw it cover key areas in Nakuru County such as Kaptembwa, Salgaa, Molo, Keringet, Olenguruone, and Njoro.

The excitement was palpable as locals gathered at each location. “We are very happy with all Kenyans for embracing Safaricom,” said Munai General, a presenter at Radio Citizen. He encouraged citizens to participate actively during these events for a chance to win prizes ranging from livestock to household items.
One of the highlights of the caravan was its visit to the Eldoret Children’s Rescue Centre. Here, Safaricom representatives donated food and gifts to the children, ensuring they would have a joyful Christmas despite their challenging circumstances. David Magut, the center’s manager, expressed gratitude for the support: “Though people are doubting if they will celebrate Christmas this year, we are sure our children will experience joy thanks to this initiative.”
Brenda Chesingei, Safaricom’s business lead in Eldoret, emphasized the importance of spreading joy during the festive season. “We have come to inspire and encourage communities while celebrating our 24 years of service,” she stated. The donations included essential food items and gifts that would brighten the children’s holiday season.
Throughout the tour, attendees had numerous opportunities to win prizes. Immaculate Awino from Eldoret shared her excitement after winning a chicken during one of the events: “I am very happy today; this is a wonderful surprise!” Another winner, Joseph Talam, expressed his gratitude in Swahili: “Tunashukuru Safaricom kwa kututembelea leo na kutuzawadi vitu mbalimbali kama vile mbuzi,” which translates to “We thank Safaricom for visiting us today and rewarding us with various items like goats.”
The caravan also served as an informative platform where Safaricom promoted its mobile insurance policies. Residents were encouraged to consider purchasing phone insurance to protect against theft or damage—a timely reminder in an era where mobile devices are integral to daily life.
The Sambaza Furaha caravan not only focused on entertainment but also aimed to strengthen community ties. By engaging with locals through fun activities and meaningful conversations about safeguarding their mobile devices, Safaricom reinforced its commitment to customer service and community wellbeing.
As the caravan made its way through Nakuru County on its final day, excitement built among residents who anticipated what surprises awaited them. The event featured live music performances and interactive games that drew crowds eager to participate.
The conclusion of the Safaricom Sambaza Furaha caravan in Nakuru marked not just an end but a continuation of community engagement efforts that Safaricom has championed over the years. As families prepared for Christmas amidst economic uncertainties, initiatives like this provide not only material support but also emotional upliftment.
This year’s caravan has left an indelible mark on the hearts of many in the Rift Valley region. It served as a reminder that even in challenging times, community spirit can be fostered through acts of kindness and celebration. As Safaricom looks forward to future endeavors, it remains committed to enhancing lives across Kenya—one celebration at a time.
